Holiday Spirit
Events & Experiences by Christy GarrardHighlands Day 2012
School ends for most students on June 19th. Kick off summer the “Highlands way” at Highlands Day, Saturday, June 23rd from 9am – 2pm at Blakely Hall and Village Green Park.
The Highlands Day Americana-theme will be enhanced this year as we celebrate the cultural diversity of Issaquah. Travel around the globe while never leaving Village Green Park and visit hands-on exhibition booths representing different countries – many hosted by YOUR neighbors! Settle in front of the stage for a jam-packed schedule featuring multicultural talent by local entertainers. Visit the Heron Rookery art exhibit inside Blakely Hall courtesy of artEAST. And of course enjoy great food provided by Agave, Zeek’s Pizza, Sip, and Ben & Jerry’s.
Parade and Opening Ceremony
The traditional Kids on Bikes parade is back this year! Line up begins at 9:00am at the intersection of Park Drive and 30th Avenue. Kids should decorate their bikes in red, white, and blue or in the cultural theme of their choice! The parade will begin at 9:30am, circling Village Green Park. The presentation of the Flag and the National Anthem will conclude the parade and the festival fun will open to everyone!
Festival Fun
The festival venue will feature many fun carnival rides and games! New this year is a portable zip line that will send you flying down Park Drive from Blakely Hall to 25th Avenue! Additional fun includes a colossal swing chair ride, pony rides, train ride, and inflatables.
The festival is called Highlands Day but is not limited to participation only by Issaquah Highlands residents. Feel free to invite you family and friends to join in this afternoon of summer fun!
For Peeps Sake! Grab Your Easter Basket! The Egg Hunt is BACK!
Easter Sunday, April 8th
at Grand Ridge Elementary in Issaquah Highlands
Highlands Council is EGGcited to announce that the annual Issaquah Highlands Egg Hunt has returned thanks to the generous support of Timberlake Church! The EGGstravaganza is FREE and will begin following the 9:30am worship service with age-specific egg hunts. If 9:30am is too early for your little bunnies a second round of age-specific egg hunts will start following the 11:00am worship service. And what will kids do while adults are in service? Think “Nickelodeon Channel meets church;” that is the safe, fun, and supervised environment called Timberlake KIDZ!
The Easter Bunny himself will arrive via a 320 foot long ZIP LINE!
The EGGstremely fun zip line will open to everyone to EGGsperience during the festival fun. Additional EGGciting HOPpenings include EGGstra special treats, activities, and inflatables; allowing everyone to get their full bunny-hop on. Nobody has a bad “hare” day when they get their photo taken with the Easter Bunny – and it is all FREE!
